Annual Report 2018 – 2019
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit” –Will Durant
Pursuit of excellence with sincerity of purpose is what Oxaliss International Senior Secondary School strives for. Our school is a standing example of what leadership with vision, commitment and discipline can achieve. Looking back at our journey of the years serving the cause of education, we are both happy and proud at the thought of the memorable milestones we have crossed, the great strides made in every field of activity.
Ladies and gentlemen, I feel elected to present to you the annual report of the school 2018-2019. To avoid a lengthy presentation, the report will be a nutshell of all.
The number of enrolled students was slightly higher (1300 students) than last year and we upgraded our infrastructure for Senior Secondary level with affiliation for science as well as commerce streams.
The sprawling 5 acres campus is comprised of 48 classrooms, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, language, computer, and robotics labs. Buildings are air conditioned and fitted with CCTV Surveillance (Camera). A Bus picks up and drop service is available.
Staying updated is the key to success in any field, especially in the field of education. Our teachers constantly strive to stay updated. We are fortunate to have a cadre of nearly 94 teachers who are well trained, well experienced, dedicated and capable of fulfilling the demands of the growing modern generation of students. The school conducted workshops and various training programs to all the teaching faculties. There was an orientation course conducted for the teachers and parents by Mrs. Mary Pearce and Mr. James Pearce from America on creative teaching methods. Secondary teachers were sent to CBSE training centres in different places like Erode, Cuddalore. Our teachers’ efficiency was proved through the board examination results.
We are happy to share the good news that our students of grade 10 who appeared for the 2017 CBSE Examinations passed in flying colors. We achieved 100% result where out of 24 students, 17 scored A1, 11 scored A2, 2 scored B1, and one alone scored B2. We take this opportunity to congratulate the students for their excellent performance and send them warm wishes for a bright future ahead.
As we share the yearly updates of our activities, we take the modesty to say that we adapted ourselves to the remodeled assessment structure from CCE as we had planned and we are proud of our students and teachers who strive hard to achieve beyond expectations. Thus we rely on activity and project oriented teaching as well as subject enrichment activities. Our teachers attended several workshops and seminars. Our nursery section follows the “Happy Tots” curriculum and primary sections follow the CBSE – NCERT syllabus. We have focused on the holistic development of the students. Our students took part in various examinations such as Olympiad, VVM, NTS and Spell Bee to name a few.
As The World Health Organization (WHO) defined human health in its broader sense in its 1948 constitution as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”, we give more importance to co scholastic activities, thus we have: a swimming pool, courts for basketball and volley ball, a playing and practicing court for football, a cricket practice net, an indoor stadium for badminton, a training arena for karate, a western dance room, a classical dance room, a skating court, a well equipped gymnasium with latest apparatus for Yoga and gymnastics, a well equipped fitness center, a keyboard room, a guitar room, and a drums room.
Sports competitions inculcate the spirit of positive challenges and sportsmanship among the students and prepare them for the life ahead. Sports, Games and Physical Fitness occupy a place of importance in our curriculum. Our students actively participated in various championship competitions and tournaments and won medals, certificates and trophies and few achievements at the international, national state and district level. Names of achievers will be read afterwards. We thank all the teachers and coaches for their immense contribution. Our Annual sports meet was held on31/08/2018 and went off smoothly.
“Strength does not come from physical capacity, it comes from unity.”
The students of our school are taught leadership through the student governing body led by the school head boy and school head girl. After the investiture ceremony, all the students are divided into four different houses, ACME, DAWN, OASIS and ZION with a Captain and Vice-captain for each house.
Various Co-Curricular Activities are held under different Clubs to develop a child physically, morally, socially and mentally and to hone skills in co-scholastic areas. Regular Club Activities are held weekly in which the students participate and display their caliber. English club highlighted the activities of the school through the school magazine,
- Tamil club conducted a quiz and rewarded the winners with prizes on Bharathiyar day
- IT club which designs all the banners including those you see today- mathematics club which conducted the Economy express
- Sports Club which organized the National Sports Day, -Science club which visited the Hi Tech Rice mill in Kallakurichi,

In Oxaliss, learning isn’t restricted within 4 walls. As always, this year was also filled with lot of activities. To mention some of them, our students visited banks, railway station, and post office. 30 students from JRC club went to the government hospital where they rendered services to the needy patients and had training on first aid. Scouts and guides club had one week training camp in Vellimalai. Some of our students went on an excursion tour to ISRO Kerala.
We have Bulbuls and cubs club as well to give a boost to lower class students self confidence in order to take part in social service activities.
To ensure that our students are well equipped with knowledge to face any challenge, we have focused on seminars where one was conducted by Mr Karthik, a reporter from News 7 channel on International Mother Language Day, another one by Forest Department Officers and one more on butterflies. Our students were taught to recognize the hard work of different professionals such as Doctors day where we had a health camp. Farmers’ day and National Press day and Tamil traditional food festival were also celebrated.
To inculcate values, daily assemblies are conducted with topics on value education and life skills. XI students conducted a street play during a community outreach program where a village in Durugam was adopted on women empowerment. Daily newspapers are provided to students.
Now, let us have a brief glimpse of the functions that marked the school calendar this year. Following International days were celebrated:
International coconut day,
International Human Rights Day,
World Day against child labour,
World blood donor day,
International Yoga day where our students performed Yoga near fish Market Street to raise awareness and highlight the importance of Yoga and
World Environment Day where trees were planted with the help of Forest Department Officers.
Important National days like Independence day, Teacher’s day, Children’s day, Republic day, National Unity day along with most important religious festivals such as Ramzan, Diwali and Christmas were celebrated in the school in due manner.
The students had an opportunity to exhibit their academic and craft talents during the Science and craft exhibition which was held on 28 and 29th January 2017. The exhibition was a comprehensive display exploring various aspects and presenting important facts.
Many milestones have been achieved and many still have to be reached. We at Oxaliss International School will continue our unceasing efforts to mould the young minds into well balanced personalities with confidence and zeal befitting the standards of this portal of education.
This report is a sincere attempt to showcase our progress in terms of achievements and activities during this academic year.
